About
Hello.
I’ve been living in Taiwan since 2022, where I help people tell stories that travel across languages. In the English Department at Taipei Tech, I teach literature and professional communication to university students developing their voices.
As a translator, I work to connect Taiwanese writers with international readers. I believe English has room for Taiwan’s beauty, contradictions, and ghosts. I've translated books by Taiwanese authors such as Terao Tetsuya, Chen Bo-Ching, and Chi Ta-Wei, and comic books commissioned by Books from Taiwan. A 2025 Taiwan Literature Base Writer in Residence, member of the Taipei Poetry Collective, and co-host of the Stories of Taiwan Reading Club, I’ve helped organize events on publishing, translation, and learner-centered pedagogy. As a 2023–2025 Fulbright Taiwan grantee, I worked in EMI faculty development. Prior to that, I was an English Teaching Assistant at Chia Hsin Junior High School in Chiayi. I have an MFA from Columbia University, where I taught undergraduate writing, and a BA from Skidmore College.
Born in Kaifeng, I'm shaped by years lived in Virginia Beach, Western Massachusetts, and New York. I also like bike sharing, pho, Vinahouse, playing erhu, frisbee, exploring small lanes in Tainan, and swimming in the ocean. The self-portrait to the left is based on memories of an overgrown field in Hong Kong Wetland Park.
